It was a lazy Saturday afternoon when a black bear decided to dine poolside on a large plant.

The whole dining experience was captured by Loren Kahle at his Longwood home. What's curious about the feast is the pool is screened in.

"Looks like he just stuck his claws in the screen pulled it, pulled it open. Made his own little bear hole," said Kahle.

But Kahle didn't want the bear to completely eat his plant so he screamed at the bear, forcing the furry intruder to scamper off.

This may be the first time Kahle has seen bears inside his pool enclosure, but he has had multiple encounters with this fury kind.

"I've had five adult bears in my yard at the same time. And I get bears in my yard all the time," said Kahle.

He credits that to living so close to the Ocala National Forest.

In fact he said his neighbors see and welcome bears in their neighborhood because they said it's just a part of the wildlife.

But despite all of his bear encounters, and the damaged they've caused, Kahle has a very strong opinion on whether bears should be hunted.

Bear hunting in Florida has been prohibited for the past 20 years. But the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is considering bringing bear hunting back.

"I'm totally against the bear hunting. That's what I would most want people to understand is that we live near the bears and they're our friends," said Kahle.

The 46-year-old photographer said he does not fear bears.

He believes people should try to understand why some recent bear encounters turned physical for some, rather than rushing to kill the bears off.
