If you thought summer worked its way into east Central Florida a little early this year, you are spot on.

The normal spring pattern of cold fronts and quick-moving systems stayed well to our north this year, allowing for a buildup of summerlike heat.

As we wrapped up April, most of east Central Florida communities topped record temperatures for the month, although Orlando came up shy, with the second warmest April on record. Orlando's record for highest average temperature in April is 78.7 degrees, set over a century ago in 1908.

Some areas of Central Florida even snuck past daily record highs a few times in April.

It seemed like our storm season also had a jump start, with several downpour days and above-normal rainfall over a large part of the state.
