A former deputy with the Orange County Sheriff's Office was arrested Thursday on child pornography charges, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Deputy Ronald Barba, 34, of Mount Dora, was charged with three counts of sexual performance by a child, a third-degree felony.

The investigation began in February, and agents served a search warrant at Barba's home in March. A computer forensic review identified three videos of child pornography, agents said.

Barba was booked into the Lake County Jail.

Barba joined the Sheriff"s Office in March 2008. He was assigned to patrol duties in the northwest area of the county.

He was involved in a deadly shooting in June 2013, records show.

He responded to a mobile home along the 4000 block of Edgewater Drive. When he arrived to the home, he was confronted by an "irate" man who was threatening to kill his wife, according to a report.

Barba chased the man inside the home and saw him place his wife in a headlock. Barba then saw the man with a weapon in his hand as he waved it over the female's head.

Barba fired his agency-issued gun, killing the man. He was later cleared in the shooting by the FDLE.
