Four people, including three innocent bystanders, were injured Thursday after a carjacking ended with a crash near the Florida Mall, deputies said.

According to deputies, a man walked into the Gap store inside the mall with a gun and tried to rob the store. The man was chased out of the store, deputies said.

An Orange County Sheriff's Office deputy was responding to the robbery call around 6:30 p.m. when he noticed a man inside a green Nissan SUV struggling with the driver in the parking lot of a nearby Target store.

Deputies chased after the SUV, but the chase ended in a crash at the intersection of South Orange Blossom Trail and Lancaster Road.

Three other vehicles were involved in the crash, but the drivers of those vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

A fourth person, a woman, suffered serious injuries. Deputies said she was stuck inside the stolen SUV after the crash, and she's considered a suspect in the incident.

The carjacking suspect is described to be in his 20s. He ran away from the crash scene on foot, deputies said.

No deputies were injured in the crash. A two-hour search was conducted, but the suspect wasn't located.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
