Parents and students will need to shop for back-to-school gear a little earlier.
Marion County's School Board has decided to push the start of the 2015-2016 school year to August 17. Originally the school year was going to start a week later, on August 24.
Gov. Rick Scott signed a bill earlier this month that, among other things, allowed school districts to start earlier.
In 2016, the district plans to start school even earlier in August.
