An investigation is underway this morning after a vehicle crashed into a Merritt Island home early Monday.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. at a home on Girard Boulevard.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the driver failed to notice that the road was a dead-end and drove into the yard and then crashed into the home.

Troopers said the two people in the vehicle then fled the scene in another vehicle.

FHP said there were two people in the home at the time but they were not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation and FHP said charges are pending.
