The trial for one of the main defendants in a high profile Osceola County murder case has been delayed.

David Damus, 22, is charged in the July 4, 2013 shooting death of Eric Roopnarine.

His trial was set to begin Monday but a judge has delayed it until the end of May because one of the investigators had a conflict.

Investigators say Damus, along with Konrad Schafer, Victoria Rios, and Juan Sebastian Muriel, made plans to rob Roopnarine at his home in Poinciana.

Investigators say Damus was also involved in another high-profile crime. He is accused of driving then 15-year-old Konrad Schafer when Schafer allegedly shot and killed 17-year-old David Guerrerro as he walked to a bus stop. Schafer later told investigators he thought it would be “fun” to shoot a person instead of homes or vehicles.

All four were arrested in the summer of 2013 and have been held behind bars ever since.

Juan Sebastian Muriel is expected to testify against Damus. Muriel, the accused driver in Roopnarine’s murder, took a plea deal last year.
