One of three teenagers accused in the brutal attack of a 17-year-old Brevard County boy has been granted bond, and she could soon be out of jail.

Jessie Umberger was in tears for most of her court hearing Thursday afternoon. The 18-year-old has been in jail since her arrest in February.

A judge granted Umberger a bond of $50,000. When released, she will be required to wear an ankle bracelet and will not be allowed to go on the Internet.

Umberger will be monitored by her aunt, who lives in Melbourne.

Investigators say Umberger, along with 18-year-old Rebecca Gotay and 17-year-old Dylan Thomas, were responsible for a crowbar attack on Daniel Vukovich in his driveway during the early morning hours of Feb. 19, all because they said Vukovich stole marijuana from them.

Several witnesses testified for Umberger's defense Thursday, including her aunt, who said she would watch over her if she was released from jail.

Vukovich's mother, Keri Henderson, also testified that her son told her he was being harassed at school by both Thomas and Umberger.

"Jessica Umberger was in the class with him, and Daniel had stated that she was part of that harassment, but Dylan Thomas was ultimately suspended from school for that," Henderson said.

Vukovich's mother testified she and her family still live in fear. She said her son was still trying to recover from the vicious attack, and has no memory of it.

Thomas is being charged as an adult and remains in jail on a $1.1 million bond. Gotay is currently out of jail.
