A Seminole County woman has bonded out of jail after she was accused of punishing her son using "boot camp" techniques.

Paris Scott was charged with two counts of cruelty towards a child without great bodily harm for what police say was boot camp-themed child abuse. Scott bonded out of jail Friday afternoon after posting $10,000 bail.

Altamonte Springs police arrested her Thursday night. They say her 9-year-old son showed up at school this week with swelling, cuts and bruises on his arms, hands, legs and back.

At first the boy blamed his mom’s boyfriend for belting him and making him do push-ups, jumping jacks, squats and for making him stand with a 40-pound weight.

But police said Scott later told them she was on the who punished her son.

However, on Friday, Scott shared a different story, saying she took the blame to protect her now ex-boyfriend, and that she regrets that decision.

"I was trying to help someone that was already in trouble and I took the blame and now I messed my life up," she said. "And now I’ve learned that I can’t so things like that because I put my children at risk."

A spokesperson for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office says the Department of Children and Families is arranging placement for all of Scott’s kids with relatives.

Scott also told me she has no more contact with her former boyfriend, both by court order and by choice. She is scheduled to be arraigned on June 9.
