A man wanted for stabbing a security guard at the Daytona Flea and Farmers Market last week turned himself in to police Wednesday night.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said Austin Lowther, 20, turned himself at the Daytona Beach Police Department just before 11 p.m.

He was arrested on felony charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, burglary of an occupied structure and grand theft and booked here into the jail.

Deputies say Lowther broke into Byrd's Custom Leather Goods at the market last Friday night and stole several things including leather clothes, a rubber training gun and even tip jars.

But during the theft, Lowther ran into Jason Powell, a security guard. That’s when police say Lowther stabbed Powell before driving off.

Powell had to undergo surgery to remove his gall bladder and has since been discharged from the hospital.

The Daytona Flea and Farmers Market is a popular destination for tourists and locals.

Investigators were able to use surveillance video from the market and compare it to old booking photos to confirm Lowther as the suspect.

Lowther is being held on $160,000 bond at the Volusia County Jail.
