A lot of folks enjoy starting their mornings with a run, but for runners gearing up for Saturday's race, they had to deal with some pretty chilly temperatures in Volusia County.

The second annual Tomoka Marathon got underway around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

Despite temperatures hovering in the mid-40s, many participants still showed up shivering in their tank tops, tees and shorts. Some decided sweatshirts were the way to go this morning.

The course takes runners past historic sites and through the Tomoka State Park with a finish along the Intracoastal Waterway.

About 1,400 runners participated in the race.

This race is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.

The half marathon began at 7 a.m. with a 5K at 7:30 a.m.
