A 3-month-old girl died early Thursday morning after she was found unresponsive with her face in a plastic bag, police said.

Ocala police responded around 2:39 a.m. to the Parkside Garden Apartments, located at 621 N.W. 2nd St., in reference to an unresponsive baby.

An Ocala police officer did chest compressions on 3-month-old Taliya Richardson in front of one of the buildings. Paramedics arrived to the scene and transported the baby to Munroe Regional Medical Center.

The girl was pronounced dead at 3:06 a.m., police said.

The girl's mother, Tyecka Evans, said she was in the living room and woke up to find that the girl "crawled over a pillow and was found unresponsive with her face in a plastic bag," a report states.

Toyana Evans, who is the baby's aunt, received a phone call from Tyecka Evans stating something happened to the girl.

Toyana Evans came to the apartment and performed CPR on the baby until paramedics arrived to the scene. Toyana Evans said she saw blood on the baby's face in the apartment, a report states.

The death was reported to the Florida Department of Children and Families.
