Fruitland Park's police chief has turned in a letter of resignation, one day after he was placed on paid administrative leave in Lake County.

City Manager Gary La Venia said he was informed of an EEOC complaint regarding Chief Terry Isaacs, but didn't have any details about who made it or what it said.

Isaacs turned in the letter Tuesday, saying he is retiring/resigning from his job effective Sunday, March 1. In it, Isaacs thanked city commissioners for the opportunity to be a part of the city, saying “it has been an honor to serve as your Chief of Police.”

La Venia said it is Isaacs’ decision and he will remain on leave.

In 2014, the city's deputy chief resigned after an FBI informant said he and another officer were part of the KKK.
