A Dunnellon man was killed Monday afternoon after his car hit a tree.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Raymond Allen, 74, was traveling southbound on U.S. 27 near State Road 19 when, for an unknown reason, his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
Allen was transported to South Lake Hospital, where he died.
Troopers said they suspect he may have had a medical episode prior to the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
