One of Seminole County’s oldest schools now has some of the newest technology in the school district.

The district unveiled the newly renovated Jackson Heights Middle School in Oviedo on Friday.

Much of the school, built in 1959, looks brand new.

The school has a new administration building, performing arts and media center.

Students at Jackson Heights are also the first in the school district to use new desks and chairs that can be adjusted.

The school also has a new energy-efficient and adjustable cooling system.

“It just really helps our students focus on learning and not have to worry about being hot or cold, or worrying about being in an old facility or worrying about a desk that’s broken. It’s all there for them so they can concentrate on what’s important,” Principal Sarah Mansur-Blythe said.

The renovation began in 2014 and should be finished by January.
