A chocolate labrador puppy is safe and sound after being rescued from a drain by Marion County Fire Rescue firefighters.

On Tuesday, firefighters from Station 17 were called to 514 Pine Way in Ocala.  When they arrived, they found the puppy in a culvert drain.

The firefighters were able to coax the puppy out of the drainage pipe. It was transported to Marion County Animal Services to be checked for a microchip.

Animal services was able to locate the owners, and Marion Fire Rescue said they decided to let one of the firefighters adopt the puppy.
