Authorities say a sinkhole about 5 feet across opened up near the main entrance of UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
The hole in a grassy area near University of Florida Shands Hospital did not result in any injuries, but commuters were rerouted away from the nearest intersection Monday morning.
The hospital said no patient care had been affected.
Crews cordoned off the area around the hole and began filling it with cement.
UF Health spokeswoman Rossana Passaniti told The Gainesville Sun that the hole will be monitored and that the facility's main entrance will remain closed to traffic.
