A multimillion-dollar expansion at Florida Hospital Flagler in Palm Coast will add more beds to the facility.

The $15 million construction project will add 32 new beds on the second and third floors over the emergency department.

Florida Hospital Flagler said the beds will be designed as Progressive Care Unit (PCU) rooms. PCU patients are less critical than Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients, but they still require more care than what is provided on the regular nursing floors.

Construction is set to begin in the spring and be completed by the end of 2016.
