Here's what you need to know for Central Florida's weather for the upcoming weekend:

  • Rain chances at 50 percent for Friday
  • Rain chances drop Sunday and into next workweek
  • Cooler temperatures come back into the forecast Sunday
  • Joaquin now a post-tropical cyclone

A small upper level low is spinning along a stalled front in the Atlantic to our east southeast. This feature has been causing more showers, especially along the coast.  Clouds tonight will be slow to break so if the clouds obscure your view of the Draconid meteors tonight, you might see some Friday night.

The chance for rain will be increasing to 50% Friday and Saturday due to another cold front sliding through from the North and we might even have a few lightning strikes Saturday.  Humidity and temperatures are expected to climb somewhat above normal until the front passes late Saturday into Sunday morning.  There is still a chance for lingering showers Sunday, but Sunday will be the best of the two this weekend.  Highs will drop back into the low and mid-80s into early next week.

In the Tropics, we are monitoring a couple tropical waves, but not anticipating any formation through the next 5 days.

In the tropics, there are no areas to monitor for potential tropical development. Joaquin has weakened into a post-tropical low and will pass north of the Azores, aiming for perhaps Portugal and Spain with rain and wind this weekend.
