A Seminole County firefighter and her passenger were killed after their motorcycle was hit by a truck Sunday morning.

The crash happened at 11 a.m. in the 2200 block of Haas Road in Apopka.

The Florida Highway Patrol said 43-year-old Diana Gilboy, who worked as a firefighter and paramedic in Seminole County, and her passenger, 34-year-old Sarah Post of Sanford were traveling west on Haas Road when a pickup made a left turn in front of the motorcycle that was riding in a group.

Both Gilboy and Post were killed.

The driver of the truck, 38-year-old Matthew Hoyt from Umatilla, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

The passenger in the pickup truck, 32-year-old Michael Richards of Tavares, says the turn was a blind spot.

“It was a blind hill. The two female riders came right up over the hill and at that point it was too late. I mean they didn't even try stopping it. I don't know if they were in shock themselves that there was a big truck there or what. It just slammed right into the side of the truck and that was it," said Richards.

Investigators say charges are pending against Hoyt.
