Have you ever hesitated turning right at a light with multiple right turn lanes?

News 13 viewer Gene from Winter Park wrote the traffic inbox, asking:

"Is it legal in Florida to make a right turn on red when there are multiple turn lanes and you are in the left-hand turn lane?"

Turning right on red from the second left-hand lane can be harrowing at times, especially because you are dealing with crossing over multiple lanes of traffic, as you find on the I-4 westbound exit to Conroy Road.  However, it's not illegal to do so.

Florida law simply states that at red lights, after coming to a complete stop and yielding to pedestrians and other traffic, you may turn right.  It's pretty cut and dry.

The only exception is that if there is a sign that says you may not do so.

However, if there is no sign saying that you cannot turn right, make sure you turn only when you feel comfortable, and stay in your turn lane all the way through.
