An investigation is underway after a 29-year-old woman was shot to death while playing cards over the weekend in Sumter County, deputies said.

Sumter County deputies responded around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, to 9688 County Road 235 in Wildwood (Royal Community) to a report of shots fired.

When deputies arrived, they saw a large group of people standing in the front yard and a shooting victim on her back.

Rhea Shontee Moore, of Wildwood, was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead about three hours later.

Deputies said Moore was underneath a canopy playing a card game with other people when she was murdered.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help with the investigation.
