If you are driving through downtown Orlando a new colorful sculpture is lighting up the night sky.

The Orlando sign is right outside the Citrus Bowl stadium at the corner of Rio Grande Ave and Church Street.

The letters once crowned the scoreboard at the Citrus Bowl. After the stadium was demolished last year, the letters were saved and transformed into this new creation.

"What we are creating is a light bridge that begins here and ends at Lake Eola," said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. "So on the way down Church Street,  we now have street signs and street lights that we can change the color."

By the way that sign cost $190,000. The money came from the city budget.

The mayor said one percent of the budget can be used for public art.
