A teenager was arrested Leesburg High School with a gun on campus Wednesday afternoon, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

"I'm scared for my safety and just for everybody else's safety," said Yinka Ademosu, a 10th grade student at the school.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office said the school resource deputy confronted the teen who admitted to having a weapon and searched him. The SRD found an unloaded .38 caliber revolver in his sweatshirt, along with several "black talon" style hollow point bullets in his pocket.

News of the gun on campus swept through the school before dismissal.

"I was just wondering if anybody got hurt, how did he get on campus and why weren't we on lockdown?" Ademosu added.

"Did he come by himself, did he have a car, did somebody bring him? Why did he come here?" questioned Yinka's grandmother Jewell Worthen.

These were valid questions not even law enforcement have all the answers too. However, deputies do believe the 16-year-old walked onto campus unnoticed until spotted by a student, who told the school resource deputy.

Deputies also say this teen had been reported missing from the Apopka area.

We are not naming the teen because he is a juvenile, per our station's Crime Guidelines.

"I was very scared. I was saying 'oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, what is going on? But like I said, if I wasn't working, I would have been right out here. I would have," Worthen said.

"Very frightening the fact that he was bold enough to come on a school campus where he knows he doesn't belong and have even an unloaded firearm. It's very scary," said Lake County Sheriff's Office Sgt. James Vachon.

Sgt. Vachon said barring any new information, they don't believe the teenager was targeting any students or teachers.

Leesburg Police believe the gun was stolen and they plan on charging the 16-year old with grand theft in a separate burglary case.

Right now he's facing possession of a weapon on campus and a stolen property charge.  The teenager was taken to the Lake County Jail.

Extra security will be at Leesburg High School Thursday morning to make sure students and staff are safe.
