A popular Flagler County park will be shut down for a much-needed makeover.

Palm Coast's James F. Holland Memorial Park is set to close Monday, Feb. 2, for a 15-month renovation.

The park, which is located along Florida Park Drive, was the city's first park and includes the city's only dog park. The $4.28 million project includes a new dog park, as well as new trails, parking and restroom facilities.

Plans also include a larger playground. This is the first phase of the park improvement plan, but a second phase, which includes a splash pad, is on hold until city officials can find funding.

There have been concerns about where to relocate all the activities that take place at Holland Park. The city has a list of its parks online. You can also check out Flagler County's parks.
