An all-out search for a Brevard County boy who ran away from school ended on a happy note Monday.

The 10-year-old boy was found in dense woods more than an hour after he took off from Saturn Elementary School, at 880 N. Range Road.

The school reported the boy missing around 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Investigators said he became upset and ran away, prompting an intense search of the school grounds and surrounding neighborhoods.

The boy was found several hundred yards behind the school property in a rugged and muddy terrain.

Neighbor Dana Delena lives nearby and was very concerned for the boy.

"You can't really get a four-wheeler or a track back there," Delena said.

The boy was spotted several hundred yards into the brush as the Brevard County Sheriff's Office and media helicopters hovered overhead.

"If we didn't find him when we did, he could have found him in a pretty bad spot," said Sheriff's Cpl. Dave Jacobs.

"I ran away from school," the boy said as EMTs loaded him into a waiting ambulance. He was transported to be checked out at a nearby hospital.

Meanwhile, administrators were working with deputies to determine how the child left campus during school hours.
