The price of solar power is getting lower and one government agency in the Sunshine State is cashing in on the savings.

A solar power system being installed at the old Elster AMCO water meter factory in Ocala is the largest system ever installed in Marion County and is expected to generate 1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.

Elster AMCO took its operations to Mexico three years ago and now the Department of Children and Family Services is moving in and centralizing their offices.

The company overseeing the project said the building's owner is getting extra savings on the project, not just with solar prices at record lows, but beating the deadline before 30% federal tax credits expire next year.
