A gas station bill worth over $2,000? A St. Cloud man said he was overcharged at a Circle K, and he hasn't gotten his refund yet.

Jason Reynolds said it happened at the Circle K off Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway.

“I went to get gas and a bottle of water and a cigar at the gas station and it was supposed to be $42.50,” Jason Reynolds said. Moments after he swiped his card, however, he found out he was actually charged $2,452.45.

“When I spoke to the store manager he admitted it was no fault of my own,” he said.

Reynolds was told he was going to have to wait until the next day to get his money back. He began by making calls to Circle K corporate.

“I call them and they act like they don’t know why I’m calling them," Reynolds said. "A manager didn’t return my call for two days. A manager from a corporate office gives me a call.”

Now a week and a half after his money was lost, he is still waiting.

“A simple mistake, an accident has turned into two weeks possibly without having my funds in my account to no fault of my own,” Reynolds said.

When we reached out to Circle K the only thing they said was that the problem has been taken care of, but for Jason, whose bank account is still short $2,452.45, it’s become a bigger issue.

“I don’t keep 2,500 dollars in my account. It’s not like I have that kind of money. The money was for a car note that I needed to pay off on my off day Wednesday, and now all that has been put on hold,” Reynolds said.

Having to wait weeks for his money has now made him nervous about swiping his card elsewhere.

“If it happened to me, you know, just going to get some gas on a Monday night, then it could happen to anybody,” Reynolds said.

Reynolds did say the latest information he received from Circle K was that the funds should be refunded within the next five to seven business days, but right now Reynolds said he is still waiting.

We’ll continue to check in with Jason and we’ll let you know how this turns out for him.
