A 13-year-old Brevard County boy is facing charges, accused of trying to take a police officer’s gun in a crowded middle school earlier this school year.

The alleged incident took place Aug. 20 at Southwest Middle School, 451 Eldron Blvd. SE.

Two officers were standing near the cafeteria when one said he felt someone come up behind him, grab the handle of his gun and try to pull it out of the holster.

The officer swung around and allegedly saw the teen running away laughing and saying, “see I can get your gun away from you and shoot you.”

That was the most dangerous incident in a series of alleged incidents between the officer and the boy.

According to the arrest report, the interaction began when the 13-year-old boy was sitting in the dean’s office for not pulling his pants up.

That’s where he’s accused of telling an officer, “I want to TASE you.” He then told another officer, “I want to TASE you. [You] will fall to the ground and I can take your gun from you and shoot you.”

The officer let him go back to class.

However, minutes later the boy allegedly came up behind the officer and tried to take his gun out of the holster.

The boy’s family declined to comment to News 13.

Meanwhile, the 13-year-old is facing charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and attempting to deprive an officer of means of protection.
