More than 30,000 patrons are expected to converge on Melbourne International Airport this weekend for the annual Space Coast Air and Space Show in Brevard County.

Top acts from across the country include the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, who are headlining the weekend and arrived for practice runs Thursday afternoon.

This year, the focus of the exhibits is at the airport after organizers moved the event from the beachside area of Melbourne. That means both the Melbourne Police Department and airport police will direct traffic all around the congested area over the next few days — and especially while the air show is running Saturday and Sunday.

Drivers' best bet is to follow the signs in place for parking and routes.

"There will be a lot of officers out on Apollo [Boulevard]," said Brian Lilley, organizer of the Space Coast Air and Space Show. "Melbourne and airport police, it's a cooperative here. We've got the city and airport police working together to make this a great experience for everybody."

Organizers are charging admission this year; tickets range from $15–$20.

A full schedule, directions and complete ticket information are available on the Air and Space Show website.
