The body of a boater who went missing late Saturday night has been found in Edgewater, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Jonathan Williams, 26, of New Smyrna Beach, had been missing since Saturday night when the canoe-type boat he was in with two other boaters capsized near channel marker 52 on the Intracoastal Waterway.

Fish and Wildlife officials said Williams' body was found near Maynard May Park, which is near channel marker 53.

The initial call came in around 11:50 p.m. Saturday.

The three men were on the water fishing for flounder in the area of 918 S. Riverside Drive. When they turned around to head back to shore, the 14-foot motorized canoe began to take on water and eventually capsized. Investigators have not released the names of the other two who made it back safely.

One of the boaters made it to shore. Another boater clung to the canoe until another boat that was passing by towed the canoe back to shore.

Several agencies helped in the search, including the U.S. Coast Guard, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, the New Smyrna Beach Police Department and the Edgewater Police Department.
