Residents in Central Florida's eastern counties like Flagler and Volusia have been hit especially hard by all the rain over the last several days.

Monday's rains are not helping.

"Kind of stressing me out a little bit. Don't need it to go in my house and wet my house up and, you know, and go through all that with the insurance or whatever," said homeowner Frank Wirth. He has water in his backyard high enough to flow into his pool.

Monday New Smyrna Beach Maintenance Operations continued to pump out the water from the corner of Willard and Glenwood, from the road and back into a creek two streets over.

Richard Giordana has lived in the area for more than 15 years.  His house was destroyed by a tornado in 2007 and now his entire backyard is under nearly 12 inches of water.  It's a battle with Mother Nature Giordana just can't win.

"I haven't been sleeping at night, thinking the water is going to come up into my house," said Giordano. "I'm ready to get a motel."

However, until the water is either pumped out or recedes, residents will just have to wait and hope drier weather comes sooner than later.

"Well, I got sandbags on the way so hopefully the sandbags will block the back doors in and all that and go from there, I guess," said Wirth.

Maintenance Operations say they plan to keep the hoses out well into Tuesday morning or longer if needed.
