Winds out of the east-southeast Sunday pushed the east coast sea breeze quickly inland. Showers with some heavy rain have already developed along the sea breeze and is moving west. There will continue to be a chance for showers and even a few storms for the remainder of the day. Temperatures were able to climb into the upper 80s to even around 90 degrees early, but will drop back a bit now that showers are moving through.

Monday will be nearly the same, with a high chance for scattered afternoon showers and storms. A front will arrive on Tuesday, keeping rain chances high, but will push south by Wednesday. This will allow for lower rain chances by mid-week. It doesn’t last too long, though, because another front will slide in next weekend bringing a higher possibility for showers and storms Saturday and into Sunday.

As we approach the end of September, it has been very wet in many places across in Central Florida. Orlando International Airport has a 3-inch surplus in the rain gauge for the month. Daytona Beach has three-and-a-half times more rain with a surplus of more than 11 inches for the month. Melbourne has more than 3 inches above the average rain amounts.

In the tropics, an area of low pressure near Bermuda now has a low chance for tropical development in the next couple of days. Whether it develops or not, models take this low northward away from Central Florida. Otherwise, the tropics are quiet.
