A Volusia County man who was on the run from authorities for almost a decade was convicted of four charges on Friday.

Lorue Lopaz Frankline, 30, of Daytona Beach, faces up to life in prison after he was convicted Sept. 26, of carjacking, kidnapping, robbery and sexual battery   — all while armed with a firearm. A sentencing date has yet to be set.

In September 2003, Frankline robbed and then carjacked two victims, forcing one of the victims to ride with him to a secluded area. Bound, gagged and blindfolded, Frankline then proceeded to rape that victim.

Frankline then stole the victim's money, cell phone and identification. It wasn't until the victim faked a heart attack that Frankline returned the car and the victim to the original location of the carjacking and then fled the area.

Frankline fled to New York and remained at large from 2005 until November 2013, when he was tracked down and extradited back to Volusia County for trial.
