Detectives are searching for clues after armed robbers targeted two Volusia County businesses Friday night.

The first incident occurred at about 10:24 p.m., at the Kangaroo store located at 1712 Doyle Road, in Deltona.

Two armed men entered the store and demanded money from the clerk. The suspects, however, fled the store empty-handed after the clerk refused to give them any money. Both suspects were wearing dark clothing.

About 30 minutes later and seven miles away, two armed men matching the same description burst into a Subway restaurant at 3140 Howland Blvd., in Deltona.

This time, the robbery was successful. The two men get away with money from the cash register. The suspects also swiped a tip jar from the counter and robbed one employee of money from his wallet before fleeing the business, deputies said.

Patrol deputies along with K-9 units responded to both scenes to mount a search for the suspects, but they weren’t located.

Based on their description, the suspects are believed to be same in both robberies.
