More off-beach parking options may be available to visitors to Volusia County’s beaches.

County leaders are being asked to approve the purchase of the Jasmin Motel, 3621 S. Atlantic Ave. in Daytona Beach Shores, for $1.4 million. They will vote on this issue Thursday, Oct. 2.

If the sale is approved, the motel would be demolished and the site converted to parking lots.

The motel sits next to an existing county parking lot, so the combined properties would mean 83 parking spaces.

Earlier this month, the county bought the Argosy motel, 1255 Ocean Shore Blvd. in Ormond Beach, which will also be converted to off-beach parking.

County staff had been told to be aggressive in finding similar properties, especially on the east side of A1A for additional parking.
