A Soyuz rocket lifted off Thursday afternoon from Kazakhstan, carrying a NASA astronaut and two Russian cosmonauts to the International Space Station.

On board the Soyuz rocket are NASA Astronaut Barry "Butch" Wilmore and Russian cosmonauts Alexander Samokutyaev and Elena Serova. The three crewmembers will be stationed at the orbiting outpost until November.

Serova is the first Russian woman to live and work on the space station, and the fourth Russian woman to fly in space.

The three crewmembers arrived at the ISS just after 10 p.m. when the Soyuz docked with the station.
