A police chief in Marion County says his community is in crisis after a string of violence this past month left three small children hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

Chief Greg Graham called the crime spree senseless and said it proves no one is exempt from stray bullets.

Two of those children were injured in a drive-by shooting at a home on Northwest 3rd Street. One person was arrested connected to a related shooting, but not for shooting the children.

The chief will join others in a community prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Downtown Ocala Square.
