A Seminole County high school teacher is out of jail after being charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

Michael Fitzwater, 40, was arrested Sunday.

Investigators said a mother discovered inappropriate text messages between her 16-year-old daughter and Fitzwater, who is a teacher at Hagerty High School in Oviedo.

During the investigation, deputies discovered Fitzwater had inappropriate sexual contact with the teen Saturday evening at his Chuluota home.

Fitzwater as an Exceptional Student Education teacher and had been teaching at the school since 2009.

Investigators said there may be other victims.

"I think it's disgusting and I'm glad that Hagerty got him and they are going to take care of the situation as they should," said parent Jean Breunle.

Fitzwater was booked into the Seminole County jail on $15,000 bond.

The school district said Fitzwater has been suspended with pay until the next board meeting, where they will likely recommend his termination.

Fitzwater is the second teacher from Hagerty High arrested this year. This past May, William Nordim was arrested on charges of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.
