A large swath of rain pushed across Central Florida Monday, and we can expect rain chances around 50 to 60 percent throughout this week.

An unseasonable combination of large scale weather features and a stationary front draped across the Central Peninsula will keep high coverage of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast through much of the workweek and into the upcoming weekend. Fall officially began Monday with the Autumnal Equinox, but the 2014 wet-season is still expected to continue through the next seven days.

Warm, muggy conditions will linger Tuesday and much of this week.  Look for cloudy skies and rain in the forecast on Tuesday, with a good chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon along with high temperatures in the middle to upper 80s.  Tuesday’s rain chance stands at 60 to 70 percent with occasional heavy rain embedded for the afternoon.  With the recent wet weather and more heavy rain expected over the next few days, some localized flooding will be possible.

No real relief from the unseasonably wet weather is in the forecast for the rest of this week, with another front expected to push into the area late Tuesday and remain a focus for moisture for the next few days.   Highs will stay in the upper 80s throughout the balance of the week with elevated rain chances each day.  There is very little over all change in the forecast through Thursday, with only slightly lower rain chances in the forecast for Friday and into the weekend.

After a flurry of weak waves moving over the Atlantic last week and over this past weekend, there is no tropical development expected in the Atlantic in the next 48 hours.
