A suspect remains on the run after an early morning shooting in Orange County that sent one man to the hospital.

Police said the gunfire erupted around 3 a.m. Tuesday, on the 2800 block of Shining Willow Terrace.

Police said the suspect fired six to nine rounds into the residence, striking 45-year-old Harrold Scott Jr. four times in the lower extremities. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he is expected to recover.

Family members think the suspect was trying to kill Scott.

"Very terrifying," said Anthony Hughley, a family friend. "I've never been through anything like that. It was very terrifying, and you can see they (were) shooting down low like they wanted to kill him."

Hughley said it's possible someone from Scott's past may be behind the shooting.

"He was jealous of him that he moved on and he might have come to retaliate against him," Hughley said.

Orlando police continue to investigate the shooting.
