A Volusia County man who robbed a bank while dressed as Santa Claus and holding a fake, gift-wrapped bomb two days before Christmas will spend the next eight years behind bars in a Florida state prison.

Mark London, of Port Orange, pleaded no contest in July to charges stemming from the Dec. 23, 2013 robbery of the SunTrust Bank on Nova Road.

Port Orange police said London, 63, walked into the bank wearing a Santa hat and beard, white gloves and sunglasses. Images from a bank surveillance camera showed the "bad Santa" carrying a wrapped gift and a note demanding cash and implying the "gift" was dangerous.

Police tracked down and arrested London at his home days later.

London also pleaded no contest in July to charges of drug possession and drug paraphernalia, which police found in London's home.

London had faced a maximum possible sentence of 35 years in prison, but took a plea deal to drop the maximum penalty to 10 years.
