The man who killed another driver when he was driving the wrong way on State Road 417 in August was way over the legal limit for blood alcohol content, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP officials say Noel Alvarado had a blood alcohol level of .214, more than three-times the legal limit, when he crashed into Doctor David Briones on August 23. It's unknown how long Alvarado had been driving the wrong way on SR-417 prior to the crash.

Both drivers died in the crash that happened in Seminole County; Briones was returning home from a shift in the Emergency Room at Central Florida Regional Hospital

Following the crash, the Medical Director of Emergency Services at Central Florida Regional Hospital James:

Dr. Briones was a smart physician and great clinician. He will fondly be remembered for his sense of humor. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Dr. Briones’ family.
