An investigation is underway after two robbers held up a convenience store at gunpoint early Wednesday morning in Volusia County, deputies said.

Deputies with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office arrived at the Kangaroo convenience store at 2910 Howland Blvd., in Deltona, around 2:09 a.m.

The clerk said she had just walked out of the cooler to see who had come into the store when the first suspect came charging toward her while brandishing a gun, deputies said. The suspected put the gun to the clerk’s back and ordered her to the front of the store, where the accomplice was already gathering up merchandise from the store. The clerk was ordered to open the cash register. When she did, one of the suspects grabbed an undisclosed amount of money, deputies said. The two intruders then fled the store.

No shots were fired, and no one was injured during the robbery, deputies said.

Patrol deputies and K-9 units, as well as a Sheriff's Office helicopter, responded to the scene and conducted a search for the two suspects, but the search came up empty.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 888-277-TIPS (8477).
