A Volusia County woman was badly burned and her dog was killed in a large fire Tuesday morning inside a mobile home in Ormond Beach.

Volusia County Fire Rescue said the fire started shortly before 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Sunnybrook Circle East and Papaya Drive, in the Life Village mobile home community off Nova Road, south of State Road 40.

Two neighbors said they saw the fire and went inside the home to pull the woman to safety, but a dog inside the home did not make it out alive.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames. They said the woman, who was not immediately identified, was badly burned and airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Her condition was not immediately released.
