A man dressed in camouflage gear was walking around a Volusia County neighborhood and firing multiple rounds from a rifle Tuesday morning, deputies said.

The noise prompted multiple 911 calls from concerned residents in the Deltona neighborhood and briefly delayed some school bus routes in the area, said Gary Davidson, public information officer for the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Responding deputies found several magazines on the ground before locating the subject and taking him into custody around 6:30 a.m. — about an hour after the first call was received, Davidson said.

There were no injuries are damage from the shooting.

Deputies who interviewed the man said that he was acting out of depression due to his life circumstances and had no intent to cause any harm. Davidson said the man was going to be arrested on multiple charges but will be recommended for a mental health evaluation upon release from jail.
