A 1-year-old girl has died after she was struck by an SUV in front of a home along Cupid Avenue in Orange County on Tuesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Michael Lane, 22, of Christmas, was traveling from the rear part of the property located along the 1200 block of Cupid Avenue to the front part of the property around 11:25 a.m.
As Lane drove past the house in a 2001 Chevrolet SUV, Aubrie Lane, his niece, stepped into the path of the vehicle, according to a report.
The front of the SUV struck the toddler, knocking her to the ground.
The girl was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, where she died just before 3 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation. Charges are pending.
