Some College Park residents are furious over the possibility of a new luxury apartment complex and the problems it could bring.

The Princeton building would sit at the corner of Princeton and Edgewater in the heart of College Park. The building would be next to another tall housing complex, The Wellesley, which opened in 2006.

Dozens of residents spoke at the Orlando City Council meeting Monday.

Traffic is one of the biggest concerns critics have. The building would be located on an already busy intersection. They also worry it will change the landscape of the popular neighborhood.

“You’re going to be driving into a concrete canyon when you drive into our community," said Mary Travis, who helped start the Rethink The Princeton campaign.

As of Monday that campaign had almost 1,000 signatures on its online petition.

“We’d like to see something more organic, something the whole community was involved in,” Travis said.,

The developer is from Atlanta and designed other buildings in Orlando, like the Steel House.  Anthony Everett helped design "The Princeton" and unveiled new renderings Monday.

It would be six stories at the highest with 226 rental units available.

Residents who want to see The Princeton built say it would be an economic boon in an area where young professionals want to live.

Council members ultimately get to decide whether the developers can go ahead with the plans. After hearing residents concerns they put a decision off until the next meeting on September 29.
