If you run a red light in Osceola County, you may have been caught on camera.

This month Osceola County officials have started will continue to send out warning notices to those running red lights at five different intersections.

Starting Monday one more red-light camera in Osceola County will be activated. It’s at U.S. Highway 192 and Poinciana Boulevard. And that means if you cross the white line on red you could get a ticket.

For the 30 days following each light’s activation, you’ll only get a warning. After that however you’ll have to pay a $158 fine.

“It’s an invasion of privacy. You shouldn’t be filmed going down the road when your just driving down the road,” said Kissimmee local Randall Wooten.

Wooten even thinks the county is just doing this for the money.

However, recently County officials said whatever money they make from the fines will go toward public safety improvements at those red-light camera intersections.

The county has previously said that their whole reason for implementing these red-light camera’s like the one at South Orange Blossom and Pleasant Hill Road is to improve safety in the county.

A national study back in 2011 suggested red light cameras have reduced red-light-running crashes in those cities by about 24 percent. Some people told us they do believe the cameras really will help.

“I’ve seen a lot of people get killed in accidents running red lights so I think it’s great,” said Bryan Case.

Throughout the month of September five different intersections  turning on their red-light cameras. Later this month, cameras at three other intersections will also be activated. The activation dates and locations of new cameras is listed below:
