Two boys are hospitalized with serious injuries after they were shot while sleeping inside a Marion County home.

It happened around 2 a.m. at the home on the 1100 block of Northwest Third Street.

Police said everyone was sleeping when seven shots were fired at the home.

Two boys, ages 4 and 8, were struck in the abdomen and buttocks.

Two adults and three other children were inside the home, but were not injured.

The boys were rushed to UF Health Shands Hospital where they are in stable condition.

Iit could have been worse than what it is, but still you don’t want to hear that your kid has been shot period,” the boys' aunt said.

“No one could do nothing to no one so bad that you would shoot in their homes," neighbor Pattie Reason said. "You may be shooting at an adult but little kids got shot, that’s sick that’s sad.”

At this time, police do not have any information about suspects.

Police are also investigating another drive-by shooting approximately four miles away on the 1900 block of Northwest 26th Avenue.

No one was injured, but a home and car were hit with gunfire around 1:45 a.m.

Wednesday night, police said they responded to two other drive-bys.

A man was shot in the back of the head on Southwest Third Street.

No one was injured in the fourth shooting.

Officials aren’t sure if any of the shootings are connected. Detectives canvassed both neighborhoods Friday knocking on doors.

“Whatever information we can get from anyone who saw anything or knows anything about it, we can either link them or identify that they are definitely unrelated shootings,” Sgt. Angy Scroble said.

If you have any information in these cases, call Ocala police at (352) 369-7061 or Crime Stoppers of Marion County at (352) 368-STOP (7867).
